Returns, Exchanges & Warranty Policy
At Bezalel Atelier, every ring is made with care, intention and attention to detail. Many of our rings are made to order, personalised, engraved or crafted to a specific size, width and material combination. Because of this, our returns and exchanges policy is slightly different from standard off-the-shelf jewellery.
Please read this policy carefully before placing your order.
1. Our Warranty
Bezalel Atelier offers a limited warranty on qualifying rings. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, provided the ring has been worn and cared for under normal conditions.
If a ring qualifies under our warranty, we will assess the ring and, where appropriate, repair or replace it. A refund will only be considered where required by law, or where repair or replacement is not reasonably possible.
2. Rings with Organic Materials
Rings containing organic materials, including but not limited to wood, horn or other natural components, are excluded from our standard warranty in respect of the organic material itself.
Organic materials are naturally variable and may react differently to moisture, chemicals, pressure, impact, heat, sunlight and everyday wear. Even with careful workmanship and quality materials, organic components require extra care and cannot be guaranteed in the same way as metal components.
Where a ring contains both metal and organic materials, we may still assess the metal structure and workmanship on a case-by-case basis.
3. Inspection of Warranty Claims
All warranty claims are subject to inspection by Bezalel Atelier.
We reserve the right to determine whether the issue is due to a manufacturing defect, material failure, normal wear and tear, accidental damage, incorrect use, lack of care, or extreme wear.
If, after inspection, we find that the ring has been subjected to unreasonable wear, impact, pressure, chemicals, moisture damage, heat, third-party alteration, or use contrary to our care instructions, the warranty may be void.
4. What the Warranty Does Not Cover
Our warranty does not cover:
- Incorrect ring size ordered by the customer
- Changes in finger size after purchase
- Normal wear and tear, scratches, scuffs or dents
- Damage caused by impact, bending, crushing or heavy labour
- Damage caused by chemicals, solvents, chlorine, cleaning products or hand sanitiser
- Damage caused by moisture or water exposure, especially on rings with organic materials
- Loss, theft or accidental damage
- Third-party repairs, resizing, polishing, engraving or alterations
- Personal preference changes after the ring has been made
- Natural colour, grain or texture variation in organic materials
- Damage caused by not following the recommended care instructions
5. Ring Size Responsibility
The customer is responsible for confirming the correct ring size before placing an order.
We strongly recommend having your finger professionally measured, especially for wider rings, comfort-fit rings or rings made from materials that cannot be resized.
A change in finger size after purchase is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered under warranty.
6. Exchanges for Incorrect Size
If a customer orders the wrong size, we will try to assist where possible.
Size exchanges are only available on standard stock rings that are not engraved, personalised, custom-made or made to order. The ring must be unworn, unused, undamaged and returned in its original condition.
No size exchanges are available on engraved rings, custom-made rings, personalised rings, or rings made to a confirmed specification.
If we agree to exchange a ring because the customer ordered the wrong size, the customer will be responsible for all courier, shipping and return fees.
7. Custom, Engraved and Personalised Rings
Custom-made, engraved and personalised rings cannot be returned or exchanged due to incorrect size, change of mind, personal preference, or because the customer no longer wants the item.
This includes rings made to a specific size, width, material, finish, engraving, inlay, sleeve, texture or design request.
If there is a verified manufacturing defect, we will assess the ring and assist in line with this policy and applicable consumer law.
8. Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items
Please inspect your ring as soon as you receive it.
If you believe your ring is defective, damaged on arrival, or not what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible with your order details and clear photographs of the issue.
If the issue is found to be our fault, we will cover the reasonable courier costs and will repair, replace or resolve the matter in line with this policy and applicable consumer law.
9. Courier and Shipping Costs
If an exchange is requested because the customer ordered the wrong size or selected the wrong item, the customer is responsible for all courier and shipping costs.
If the return or exchange is due to an error by Bezalel Atelier, or a verified manufacturing defect, we will cover the reasonable courier costs.
Please do not send any ring back to us without contacting us first. Items returned without prior arrangement may not be accepted.
10. Refunds
Refunds are not offered for custom-made, engraved, personalised or made-to-order rings due to incorrect size, change of mind or personal preference.
Where a refund is approved, it will be processed using the original payment method where possible. Courier or shipping fees may be excluded from the refund unless the return is due to an error by Bezalel Atelier or a verified defect.
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any rights you may have under applicable South African consumer law.
11. Customer Care Responsibility
Our rings are made to be worn, but they still need to be treated with reasonable care.
Customers are expected to remove their rings during heavy labour, gym training, manual work, swimming, chemical exposure, cleaning, gardening, or any activity that may place the ring under unnecessary stress.
Rings with organic components require extra care and should be kept away from water, chemicals, prolonged sunlight and harsh conditions.
Taking proper care of your ring helps preserve its beauty, structure and longevity.
